Jeep Jamboree - Main |
|
I have attended several Jeep Jamborees (JJ). Below are the ones that I have pictures for. JJ are mainly trail rides. The vehicles that attend are almost exclusively newer. That's not to say that the Old Iron isn't welcome. For some reason they just don't attend. If you have Old Iron and don't attend JJ please email me and let me know why that is. Typically there are more than 30 JJ throughout the country starting in March with the last one in October. Click here for the JJ web site. Usually they start with a check-in and games on Thursday night and end with breakfast on Sunday morning. The games are things like reverse steer, where you drive a specially prepared Jeep® through a course going forward and reverse in a (+) route. The catch is that when you turn the steering wheel right the Jeep® goes Other games include, Jeep® balance beam, try to balance a Jeep®; Blindfold driving. passenger tells you where to go, as if they don't usually and slow hill climb. All there are loads of fun. Friday morning begins at headquarters with breakfast and a drivers meeting. Then off to the trails. They are rated so inexperienced can drivers can learn and body damage is hopefully eliminated. On the higher rated trails you can expect body damage. Some of us call them "beauty marks". :=} All trails have experienced guides that are extremely friendly and helpful. Lunch is either back at headquarters or on the trail. The afternoon is more trail riding and dinner is back at headquarters. After dinner there is plenty of reminiscing about the day's adventure. Saturday is a repeat of Friday except for different trails and Saturday night dinner is accompanied with a meeting, raffle and music / dancing. The door prizes might include a set of 4 tires or a winch. It is a very good time for all. Sunday is back to headquarters for breakfast, pack the Jeeps® and head home. Here are the Jeep Jamborees I have pictures for. Visitors since January 01, 2004
